Thinker's Draft
Instinct. Inquiry. Integrity.
"The most dangerous man, to any government, is the man who is able to think things out for himself, without regard to the prevailing superstitions and taboos. Almost inevitably he comes to the conclusion that the government he lives under is dishonest, insane and intolerable…" - H.L Mencken
Welcome to Thinker's Draft!
This is not a hot-take factory. I start with a gut reaction to a law, a policy, or a political moment. Then I slow down. I read the boring parts. I look at the footnotes. I try, sometimes painfully, to prove myself wrong.
Similar to what Justice Jackson (KBJ) stated, “Other cases presenting different allegations and different records may lead to different conclusions.” We need to look at the facts and understand different perspectives.
No shouting. No team jerseys. Just curiosity, a stack of primary sources, and the humble suspicion my first thought might not be my best one.
Pull up a chair. We’re thinking out loud here.
